Gyrusstica
A bullet hell take on the classical game Gyruss. Shoot everything and avoid ships and bullets. Clearing an attackwave without losing too much health a bonus token will appear with the next attack wave - it can be picked several times before it goes away.
These bonus tokens are available:
- Fire power - more poerful ammo and more cannons on the ship
- Shield - a shield lasting for ten seconds
- Autofire - Adds longer bursts up to continous fire
When a life is lost, all bonus tokens are reset.
WASD or arrows to manoveur, CTRL to fire. Use keyboard and return to enter name for high score.
The controls are made to mimic those in the 1983 arcade game Gyruss and may feel a bit awkward. This is how it works:
A always move the fighter to the 9 o'clock position (shortest way)
D always move the fighter to the 3 o'clock position
W moves the fighter to 12 o'clock
D moves the fighter to 6 o'clock
Similarly A+W moves to 10.30, W+D to 1.30, D+S to 4.30 and S+A to 7.30.
This means that in order to go "full circle" (clockwise, starting from the bottom) You need to press A,S,D,E in order (and time it to get a smooth movement)
NOTE: Some sound FX for some reason stopped working during build :(

This is a really good looking game, it gives me Tempest 2000 vibes, though without the grid. The graphics and music are great, but the controls could do with some work: going between the top part of the screen and the the bottom is not very clear as it stops at the half way point, and then pressing the other direction may or may not send you back the way you came: this was really an issue with the boss as I kept going back into the line of fire. This is a good entry, great work!
Thanks for playing and for the comments. The controls are intentionally done the way they are to mimic those in Gyruss which is the game I based my entry on and makes (IMHO) for a more intricate game play. And I like them :)
